To make transactions on Paribu, you need to complete the account verification (KYC) process. The process consists of verifying your ID details, your face, and your address, and can only be completed through the Paribu mobile app. Verification through the app is available only to Turkish citizens and only with a chip-enabled new-type Turkish ID card. If you hold a foreign ID card or a blue card, your verification is completed through a physical courier process.
What is account verification (KYC)?
KYC (Know Your Customer) is the identity verification process that financial institutions apply due to legal regulations. As a CMB-licensed investment platform, Paribu requires you to verify your account in order to make transactions. Asset deposits, trading, and withdrawals are not available until account verification is complete.
How to verify your account
When you enter the account verification flow, the Verify your account screen shows three main steps: ID details, face verification, and address details. The flow also includes providing investor details and approving the agreement.
Before you start, note the following:
- Turn on your device sound — You will receive audio guidance throughout the process
- Be in a well-lit environment — Good lighting is required for ID and face recognition
- Grant camera and microphone permissions — Both accesses are required
When you tap the Continue button, camera and microphone permissions are requested. If you have granted them, you go directly to the ID scan screen; if you rejected them, enable them in your device settings and return to the app to continue.
Which ID document can be used for verification?
Verification through the app is available only to Turkish citizens and only with a chip-enabled new-type Turkish ID card. The ID scan and NFC reading steps in the app can read this card only.
The following documents cannot be used for account verification through the app: old-type Turkish ID cards without a chip, driver's licenses, passports, foreign ID cards, blue cards, student IDs, professional IDs, and institutional cards.
Warning: When an unaccepted document is scanned, the Invalid ID document heading is shown on the screen and you are offered the Contact Paribu Support option.
If you are not a Turkish citizen — if you hold a foreign ID card or a blue card — your verification is completed through a physical courier process. You can start the process through Paribu Support; for details, see the "If you hold a foreign ID card or a blue card" section in this article.
Verify your ID details
Scan the front and back of your ID card with your phone camera. Follow the audio guidance to hold the front to the camera first, then the back. When both sides are read successfully, a confirmation animation is shown and the NFC chip reading step begins.
For NFC, bring your ID card close to your phone — for iPhone, place it near the top of the phone; for Android devices, near the back. Do not move the card until the scan is complete. If NFC reading fails repeatedly, the app automatically redirects you to hologram verification; in this method, the hologram element on your ID card is detected by tilting the card to different angles in front of the camera.
Once ID scan and chip or hologram verification are complete, a short Verifying... waiting screen is shown. This screen completes the system check of your ID details, takes a few seconds, and then automatically moves on to face verification.
Tips:
- Hold the ID card flat, perpendicular, and clean; avoid reflections
- A phone case may block NFC reading; remove the case if you have issues
- Camera scanning may not be enough if the card is worn or damaged
For detailed troubleshooting on NFC or hologram verification, see the NFC reading failed article.
Complete face verification
Face verification consists of two stages: movement tests and audio questions.
In the movement tests, the screen shows you random face movements — looking straight, turning your head left or right, tilting up or down, smiling, blinking. Each successful movement adds a green segment to the on-screen progress ring.
Before audio questions begin, the app requests speech recognition permission. After you grant it, 3 randomly selected Turkish questions are shown on the screen ("What is your name?", "Which city do you live in?", and similar). Answer the questions out loud. Give an answer of at least 2 words to each question; you have 10 seconds per question.
Tips:
- Hold the phone at face level, 20-30 cm away
- Only your face should be in the frame
- Be in a well-lit and quiet environment
- Remove glasses, masks, hats, or headphones — the system detects them and asks you to remove them
If you have issues with face verification, see the Face verification failed article.
Provide your investor details
After face verification is complete, you are asked questions about your occupation and trading preferences. You provide your occupation first, then your trading preferences. The fields you need to answer:
- Occupation
- Monthly income range
- Source of income
- Monthly trading volume
- Monthly trading frequency
- Trading purpose
The options for each field come from a dropdown list. Select the option closest to your situation and tap the Continue button.
Note: You can update the information you provide later from your profile settings.
Verify your address details
The address details from official records are shown on the screen. If the details are correct, tap the Confirm and continue button. If the details are not up to date, tap the Update address button to edit the province, district, postal code, and full address fields.
On the next screen, you are asked to upload a residence document obtained through e-Government. The document must:
- Be a residence document from the e-Government Population and Citizenship Affairs
- Have been obtained within the last 1 month
- Be in PDF, PNG, or JPEG format
Steps to obtain the document from e-Government:
- Log in to e-Government
- Open the Residence Document Inquiry page
- Select on whose behalf you want the document and tap the Continue button
- In the Reason for issuing the document section, select Submission to Institution and enter Paribu as the institution name
- Download the document in PDF format using the Download File button
You can upload the document via the camera, gallery, or file picker. Before uploading, tick the "I declare that I reside at the address shown in this document" checkbox.
Note: You can skip this step using the Verify later button; however, transactions such as TRY withdrawal and crypto sending may be limited until address verification is complete.
For issues with the address document, see the e-Government document issues article.
Approve the agreement
In the last step, you are asked to approve the Paribu Terms of Use and Membership Agreement. Your account does not become ready to make transactions until this step is complete.
Scroll the agreement text to the end on the screen. Until you reach the end, the Accept agreement button stays inactive and reads "Read the agreement to the end to approve". When you scroll to the end, the button becomes active; tap it to give your approval. After approval, you are redirected to the home screen.
Note: If you previously completed account verification but did not approve the agreement, an Approve agreement notice is shown at the top of the home screen. Tap the notice to return to the agreement screen.
If you hold a foreign ID card or a blue card
If you are not a Turkish citizen — if you hold a foreign ID card or a blue card — account verification cannot be completed with the ID scan and NFC steps in the app. Your verification is completed through a physical courier process.
To start the process, start a live support chat through Paribu Support and state that you hold a foreign ID card. The support team tells you which details and documents are needed; the identity-verification courier then calls you to schedule an appointment and comes to the address you specified. The courier completes the verification on site.
Note: The courier can only visit addresses within Türkiye; a courier cannot be sent to an address abroad.
You do not need to send your documents anywhere; the courier comes to you. This is not a cargo or shipping service.
If the process could not be completed
If your verification application has a negative result, the rejection reason is shown on the screen. The most common reasons:
- Document could not be read / hologram could not be verified — The card may be blurry, reflective, or worn; a retry option is shown
- Accessory detected — Glasses, mask, hat, or headphones were detected during face verification; remove and try again
- Face match failed — The selfie did not match the face on the ID, or the capture quality was not enough
- Account status blocking — Cases such as being under the age limit or already having an account with this ID; retry is not available, and you need to contact support chat
In some errors, your retry budget is limited; the button shows the Try again (N attempts left) label. If your attempts run out or a manual review is required, you may see a Your information is being reviewed or Your account is suspended message. In these cases, you can start a live support chat through Paribu Support to follow up on the process.
For other rejection cases and general troubleshooting, see the KYC failed article.
If the process is interrupted
If you put the app in the background or lock your device during ID scan, face verification, or hologram verification, the process stops for security reasons. When you return, the Verification was interrupted screen is shown; you can use the Start over button to restart the process. In the address and agreement steps, your earlier information is preserved and you can continue where you left off.
If your device is not supported
Account verification uses NFC or hologram verification to read the chip on your ID card. If your device does not support NFC and hologram verification is also unavailable, the Your device is not supported screen is shown. In this case, you need to complete verification on another device that supports NFC.
Exiting the verification process
When you tap the X button at the top right of an account verification screen, the behavior depends on the step you are at:
- ID scan, face verification, investor details: A confirmation window opens; if you exit, the information you provided up to that point is not saved
- Address verification: The X button takes you directly to the home screen; earlier steps remain saved and you can continue via the Verify address notice on the home screen
- Agreement approval: A confirmation window opens; if you exit, your verification remains saved and you can return to the agreement via the Approve agreement notice on the home screen
In the confirmation window, use the Continue verification button (or Continue agreement in the agreement step) to keep going, or the Exit anyway button to leave.
Frequently asked questions
What happens if I do not complete account verification?
Asset deposits, trading, and withdrawals are not available until account verification is complete. The existing assets in your account remain securely stored.
How long does account verification take?
When completed without interruption, the process takes 5-10 minutes. The total time may extend by a few minutes depending on how long it takes you to obtain the e-Government residence document.
I do not have a chip-enabled Turkish ID card, what should I do?
Account verification can only be completed with a chip-enabled new-type Turkish ID card. Old-type Turkish ID cards without a chip are not accepted for account verification. To complete verification, you need to obtain a chip-enabled new-type Turkish ID card. A driver's license or passport cannot be used for account verification either.
Can I verify my account with my passport or driver's license?
No. Verification through the app is available only to Turkish citizens and only with a chip-enabled new-type Turkish ID card. Driver's licenses, passports, old-type Turkish ID cards without a chip, student IDs, and institutional cards cannot be used. If you hold a foreign ID card or a blue card, your verification is completed through a physical courier process; you can start the process through Paribu Support.
Why are investor questions asked?
Per the regulations of the Capital Markets Board (CMB), institutions providing investment services are required to evaluate whether users make transactions consistent with their profile. You can update the information you provided later from your profile settings.
I left account verification halfway, was my information saved?
It depends on the step you were at. If you exit at the ID scan, face verification, or investor details steps, the information for those steps is deleted. If you exit at the address verification or agreement steps, your earlier information remains saved; you can continue via the notice on the home screen.
My verification is complete but I still cannot transact, why?
If your verification looks complete but you cannot make TRY or crypto transactions, your account is usually missing agreement approval, has not completed the first TRY deposit requirement, is under review, or has been banned. See My account is verified but I cannot transact for the detailed checklist.
