After your ID card is scanned in the account verification process, the NFC chip scanning step begins. If NFC scanning fails, a few physical checks may resolve the issue; if not, you can use the camera scanning alternative.
If the message "ID information could not be verified via NFC" or "Scan could not be completed" appeared while reading the ID chip via NFC, communication between the chip on the ID card and the phone's NFC antenna could not be established. The most common reasons are incorrect card positioning, the phone case blocking the signal, or the device's NFC hardware being weak.
Apply the following checks in order:
Place your ID card on the back of your phone and hold it steady until scanning is complete. The chip section of the card needs to align with the phone's NFC antenna:
Do not move the card or the phone during scanning. Track the scan status on the screen: ready → scanning → success or error.
Thick or metal-containing phone cases may block the NFC signal. Remove the case and try scanning again.
Note: Thin silicone cases usually do not block NFC scanning; however, if you have an issue, removing the case is the safest method
NFC may be disabled by default on Android devices. Check that NFC is on from device settings:
Settings > Connections > NFC and contactless payments (the menu name may vary by device)
NFC is always on on iPhones and does not need to be enabled separately.
Make sure the chip on your ID card is not physically damaged. If the gold-coloured contact surface on the chip is scratched or dirty, clean it with a soft cloth. If the chip is damaged, NFC scanning fails; in this case, use the camera scanning alternative.
If NFC scanning has not been successful in a few attempts, the app automatically redirects you to an alternative authentication method. These methods solve a device-related reading problem with your chip-enabled new-type Turkish ID card; they do not let you verify with a different ID document. Account verification can only be completed with a chip-enabled new-type Turkish ID card.
When NFC scanning fails several times in a row, the app automatically redirects you to the Hologram authentication screen. In this method, you tilt your ID card at different angles in front of the camera according to the on-screen guidance. The camera detects the hologram element on the card and verifies your identity. Hologram authentication also works on devices without NFC and does not require additional hardware.
In addition to hologram authentication, account verification can also be performed using camera-based optical character recognition (OCR). On the error screen, tap Scan with camera to switch to this method. The front and back of your ID card are scanned by the camera and your information is read.
Note: On devices that do not support NFC, you are automatically redirected to alternative authentication methods; you do not need to take any further action
If both NFC and camera scanning are failing, you can contact Paribu Support: 0850 303 60 00
On devices without NFC, the hologram authentication or camera-based optical scan (OCR) alternative is offered automatically. You can complete the account verification process smoothly with these methods.
NFC scanning is completed in a few seconds. After placing the card on the phone and seeing "Scanning..." on the screen, hold the card steady; a success or error result is displayed within a few seconds.
Yes. Hologram authentication and camera-based optical scan (OCR) methods are also used to verify your identity information; the security level is the same.
