How to set up two-factor authentication (2FA)

August 24, 2026

Two-factor authentication (2FA) is a security layer that requires you to enter a one-time code generated by Google Authenticator in addition to your password when signing in to your Paribu account. You can set up 2FA on both the Paribu app and the web.

How is two-factor authentication (2FA) set up?

To set up two-factor authentication (2FA) on Paribu, verify with your password on the Security settings page, add the Paribu setup key to Google Authenticator on your phone, and complete setup by entering the 6-digit verification code. Once 2FA is active, the Google Authenticator code is requested when you sign in and during security-sensitive actions.

Before you start

  • Download the Google Authenticator app on your phone
  • Make sure you know your Paribu account password

Enable 2FA on Paribu

  1. Open Paribu.com and hover over the profile icon at the top right
  2. Click Security settings in the menu that appears
  3. In the Security steps section, click 2-factor authentication
  4. In the Set up Google Authenticator window that opens, read the information and click the Continue button
  5. Enter your password and click the Continue button

Add it to your authenticator app

  1. Open the Google Authenticator app on your phone and tap the (+) icon
  2. Scan the QR code shown on the screen with your phone or enter the setup key manually

Complete the setup

  1. Click the Continue button
  2. Enter the 6-digit code from Google Authenticator and complete the verification

Note: When setup starts, a confirmation code is also sent to your registered phone number. The description on the setup screen shows which number it was sent to.

What changes after two-factor authentication is set up?

Once 2FA is active, the following actions request the Google Authenticator code instead of an SMS:

  • Signing in to Paribu
  • Confirming a crypto asset withdrawal
  • Verification before changing your password
  • Changes to security settings

How is your security level affected?

The Security level indicator at the top of the Security settings page looks at two steps on the web: 2-factor authentication and passkey. If neither is complete, the level is Critical; if one is complete, it is Medium; if both are complete, it is Secure. When you only set up 2FA, your level becomes Medium; once you also create a passkey, it rises to Secure and the Secure account label appears on the page.

Note: This indicator is not related to account verification (KYC). Even if your account is verified, the level may appear as Critical if you have not completed the security steps.
