What is a passkey?

A passkey is a security feature that lets you authenticate using your face, fingerprint, or device password instead of a password. With a passkey on your Paribu account, you can sign in and quickly approve security-sensitive actions.

What does a passkey offer?

A passkey is a stronger and easier-to-use authentication method compared to a password. When you add a passkey to your account, you benefit from the following advantages:

Strong protection — Enhances your account security and protects your credentials with stronger security measures
Multi-device support — You can use a single passkey on all your devices that use Paribu and are synchronized
Fast action approval — You can speed up your security-sensitive actions through the passkey
Financial action security — You can approve crypto asset withdrawals and other critical actions with the passkey

Security level

Your account security on Paribu is evaluated at three levels:

Level	Condition
Critical	No security step is enabled
Medium	One or two of the three steps are enabled
Secure	2FA + passkey + biometric authentication (all three) are enabled

Creating a passkey is one of the steps to raise your account security level to Secure.

Where is a passkey used?

After a passkey is enabled, it is used in the following actions:

Signing in to Paribu
Confirming a crypto asset withdrawal
Verification before changing your password
Changes to security settings

Note: When sign-in with the passkey is not possible, you can continue with the two-factor authentication (2FA) method.

Important information

You can create a passkey on more than one device, but only one is valid on the same device
The passkey name must be between 3 and 40 characters
You can rename or delete the passkey at any time

Frequently asked questions

Is a passkey mandatory?

No, a passkey is optional. However, to raise your account security level to Secure, you need to enable 2FA, a passkey, and biometric authentication together.

What happens if I lose my passkey?

A passkey is tied to your device. If you change your device, you can create a new passkey on the new device. You can manage your existing passkeys from security settings.

Can I use a passkey on more than one device?

Yes, you can create a separate passkey on each device. On synchronized devices (such as Apple devices linked through iCloud Keychain), a single passkey is valid on all devices.
