Two-factor authentication (2FA) issues are usually caused by a time difference in the authenticator app, a phone change, or losing the setup key. You can resolve most cases with a few simple steps; if you have lost access, the Paribu Support process takes over.
If your 6-digit Google Authenticator code is rejected, the most common cause is a time difference between the authenticator app and the Paribu server. Check your phone's time settings, correct the time synchronisation, and try again with a newly generated code. If you cannot access your codes due to a phone change or app reset, you can re-add the account using your backup setup key or contact Paribu Support.
If your Google Authenticator code is rejected when entered, there are several possible reasons:
Google Authenticator generates time-based (TOTP) codes that change every 30 seconds. If there is even a few seconds of difference between your phone's clock and the Paribu server, the code may be invalid.
To resolve the issue, check your phone's time settings and make sure the automatic time option is enabled. If your Google Authenticator app has a time correction option (Settings > Time correction for codes), apply it. Then wait until the app generates a new code and enter the current code that has not yet expired.
Note: If the timer is close to zero right after you enter the code, the code may have expired. Wait for a new code to be generated and try again with a fresh one
If you have multiple accounts defined in Google Authenticator, you may have entered the code from the wrong account. Find the entry labelled Paribu in the authenticator app and use only the code for that account.
If you delete and reinstall Google Authenticator, previously added accounts are lost. In this case, you need to re-add the account using your setup key (see the "Re-adding with the setup key" section below).
In case of a phone change or loss, you lose access to the Paribu entry in Google Authenticator. There are two options in this situation:
If you noted down the setup key (the text below the QR code) shown to you during 2FA setup, you can manually add this key to the Google Authenticator app on your new phone to regenerate your codes:
Once added, Google Authenticator starts generating codes for your Paribu account again.
Warning: Keep your setup key in a secure location. This key is the fastest way to regain access to your account when you lose access to your authenticator app
If you did not note down your setup key or cannot find it, start a live support chat through Paribu Support and request a 2FA reset. The support team removes 2FA from your account after account verification; you can then set it up again.
To allow your request to be resolved quickly, it is recommended to have your registered email address and phone number ready.
Issues you may encounter during setup and their solutions:
If you can log in to your account, you can disable 2FA yourself from the security settings. For detailed steps, you can view the 2 adımlı kimlik doğrulama (2FA) nasıl devre dışı bırakılır? article.
If you cannot log in to your account — that is, if a 2FA code is requested on the login screen and you cannot generate the code — start a live support chat through Paribu Support and request a 2FA reset.
Note: You can also start a live support chat without logging in. Your name, registered email and phone number are requested so that the support team can verify your identity
Yes. You can use any TOTP-supported authenticator app (Microsoft Authenticator, Authy, etc.). During setup, add the QR code or setup key to the app of your choice.
The setup key is shown only during 2FA setup and cannot be displayed again on Paribu afterwards. It is recommended to save this key in a secure location (password manager, encrypted note, etc.) during setup. If you do not have your key, you need to contact Paribu Support to reset 2FA.
The support team removes 2FA from your account after account verification. The process depends on how quickly the verification steps are completed. After 2FA is removed, you can log in to your account and, if you prefer, set up 2FA again.
Yes. Two-factor authentication is one of the criteria that determine your security level; when it is disabled, your security level drops. You can raise your level again by setting up 2FA. For details, you can view the What is security level? article.
