I forgot to enter the memo/tag

August 24, 2026

Transfers made without memo or with an incorrect memo on a memo-requiring network are not automatically reflected in the account. In such cases, finding your asset and transferring it to your account is usually possible; however, the process is carried out manually by the support team.

What can you do if you made a transfer without memo or tag?

When sending without memo or with an incorrect memo on a memo-requiring network (such as Ripple/XRP), the asset reaches the recipient platform's shared wallet address but the user it belongs to cannot be identified. In this case, you can apply to the support team with your TX hash and transfer details to request that your asset be located and credited to the correct account.

What does missing or incorrect memo mean?

On memo-requiring networks, the same wallet address is shared by multiple users; the memo determines which account the transfer is routed to. When the memo is not entered or entered incorrectly, two different scenarios occur:

Memo not entered: The asset reaches the shared address but is not automatically routed to any account. The support team can match it with the TX hash and other information
Incorrect memo entered: The asset may have been routed to another user's account or considered invalid by the network. The resolution process differs by scenario

This case is different from a wrong network selection: with a missing memo, the asset reaches the correct network and correct address, only the account match cannot be made. For this reason, the recovery probability is generally higher than the wrong network scenario.

Which crypto assets require memo or tag?

Among the assets supported on Paribu, the following require a memo or tag during transfer:

XRP (Ripple) — Memo
XLM (Stellar) — Memo
ATOM (Cosmos) — Memo
GRAM (Gram, previously Toncoin) — Memo
A (Vaulta) — Memo
SEI — Memo
DYDX — Memo
INJ (Injective) — Memo
STX (Stacks) — Memo
TIA (Celestia) — Memo
AKT (Akash) — Memo

Paribu automatically displays the memo or tag field for these assets on the deposit and withdrawal screens and indicates the risk of asset loss with a red warning if a sending is made without it. Memo or tag is not required on networks such as Bitcoin, Ethereum (ERC-20), Tron (TRC-20), BNB Smart Chain (BEP-20), and Solana.

Recovery process

The steps to follow vary based on the direction of the transfer:

Deposit to Paribu (transfer coming from outside)

If you made a sending without memo from an external platform to your Paribu account, your asset may have reached Paribu's shared wallet address but could not be automatically routed to your account. In this case, contact Paribu Support and share your TX hash and transfer details. The support team can identify your asset by reviewing the blockchain record and manually credit it to your account.

Withdrawal from Paribu (transfer going outside)

If you made a withdrawal from Paribu to an external platform without entering memo, your asset may have reached the recipient platform's shared wallet address. In this case, you need to apply to the recipient platform's support team, because the asset is under the recipient platform's control. You can request recovery by sharing your TX hash, the amount you sent, and the correct memo value with the recipient platform.

Warning: During withdrawal from Paribu on memo-requiring networks, the withdrawal form treats the memo field as mandatory and does not allow it to be left empty. This issue is usually experienced in deposits to Paribu from external platforms

How to create a support request

If you have a missing memo issue with a deposit to Paribu, start a live support chat through Paribu Support and report your situation. To allow your request to be resolved quickly, it is recommended to have the TX hash, the crypto asset and amount sent, the platform name and sending address you sent from, your Paribu deposit address, the missing or incorrectly entered memo value (and the correct memo value if you know it), and the transaction date ready.

How can it be prevented in the future?

A few simple habits during memo-requiring transfers eliminate the risk of asset loss:

Copy both pieces of information separately: On the deposit screen, copy and paste both the wallet address and the memo value separately to the platform you are sending from. Copying the memo value rather than typing it manually eliminates the risk of error
Take warnings seriously: Paribu shows a red warning on the deposit screen for memo-requiring assets. If you see this warning, be sure to fill in the memo field
Check before sending: Compare address and memo information one last time before confirming the send; in particular, make sure the memo value has been entered in the correct field

Note: Copying an address with a QR code only transfers the wallet address; the QR code may not contain the memo value. Always copy and paste the memo field separately

Frequently asked questions

Can a transfer made without memo be recovered?

Yes, in most cases recovery is possible for transfers made with missing memo since the asset reaches the correct address. The recovery is performed by Paribu Support for deposits to Paribu, and by the recipient platform's support team for withdrawals to outside. Since the process requires manual review, it may take longer than standard transaction times.

I sent with an incorrect memo, is it different from missing memo?

Yes. With a missing memo, the asset waits without being routed to any account; with an incorrect memo, it may have been routed to another account or considered invalid by the network. The recovery process may be more complex with an incorrect memo; in both cases, apply to the support team with your TX hash.

How long does the recovery process take?

Since missing memo recovery requires manual review, the exact time varies on a case-by-case basis. The support team provides information about the estimated time after evaluating your situation.

Is memo mandatory when withdrawing from Paribu?

Yes. When a memo-requiring network is selected on the Paribu withdrawal form, the memo field is displayed as mandatory and cannot be left empty. The missing memo issue usually arises in deposits to Paribu from external platforms; because external platforms may apply the memo requirement differently.
