Paribu CEO Yasin Oral was Açıl Sezen’s guest at the BloombergHT show Finans Merkezi on Friday, October 6. Topics of discussion included Cryptocurrency Awareness and Perception Research and the cryptocurrency ecosystem in Türkiye.
According to Paribu’s annual Cryptocurrency Awareness and Perception Research, cryptocurrency awareness in Türkiye increased from 77 percent in 2022 to 99 percent in 2023. Furthermore, Yasin Oral highlighted that blockchain awareness currently stands at a mere 25 percent, and that there is so much more to be learned about the underlying technology. Research suggests that individuals trading cryptocurrencies typically turn to cryptocurrency platforms as their primary source of information when conducting research on a topic, before exploring other avenues.

Oral stated that people with no prior investment experience have gained knowledge and experience on the subject thanks to the fast and easy transactions provided by Paribu, and noted that this experience also supported the stock markets.

Yasin Oral highlighted that 25 percent of those familiar with cryptocurrencies are involved in trading. Among these traders, 29 percent are women, while 23 percent are men. Oral also noted that 64 percent of cryptocurrency traders prefer to use local exchanges. According to the research findings, Yasin Oral stated that 60 percent of cryptocurrency traders believe regulations are necessary, adding that traders seek government assurance for the protection of their assets. Additionally, 75 percent of traders consider cryptocurrencies to be a safe investment.
“Turkish users adapt swiftly to new technologies”
In response to questions concerning the approach of Turkish investors to new technologies, Yasin Oral stated that Turkish users are very open and willing to learn about innovations. Yasin Oral emphasized that interest is not only high in cryptocurrencies but also in emerging technologies in general. He concluded by stating that Turkish users adapt to new technologies at an impressive pace.
