Founded by Paribu, drawing inspiration from the Olympic spirit to enrich the future of sports culture in Türkiye, Team Paribu has initiated a new project in alignment with its ethos of social welfare.
Following the devastating earthquakes on February 6, the efforts carried out as part of the “Team Paribu by Your Side” project with the collaboration of Team Paribu and Needs Map have been dedicated to aiding the recovery of children and youth in the earthquake-stricken area through sports. Accordingly, Paribu has launched the “Team Paribu by Your Side Sports Facilities in Disaster Areas Project.”
What is the Team Paribu by Your Side Sports Facilities in Disaster Areas project?
The “Team Paribu by Your Side Sports Facilities in Disaster Areas Project” consists of efforts aimed at ensuring “recovery through sports” for the young people in the earthquake zone with the contributions of Team Paribu, Needs Map, and all Team Paribu athletes under the leadership of Eda Erdem. The first of the sports facilities to be built as part of the project for the children and young people in the earthquake zone was built in Hatay.
The opening ceremony for the sports facility took place on August 7 with the participation of Paribu CEO Yasin Oral; Eda Erdem, the captain of Türkiye Women’s National Volleyball Team and Team Paribu; national artistic gymnast Ahmet Önder; and Esra Arslan, a Board Member at Needs Map.
Located in Hatay Container City, the Team Paribu Sports Facility will enable nearly 400 children and young people to experience Olympic sports with the help of their coaches throughout the year. The children and young people in the earthquake zone have already had their first training with Eda Erdem and Ahmet Önder. All Team Paribu athletes will meet them at the facility throughout the year.
Additionally, Clinical Sports Psychologist Berceste Şeber will hold year-round talks on sports psychology with children and young people as well as their families. While discussing the healing influence of sports, Şeber highlighted the importance of sports in maintaining emotional equilibrium.
