If the order you placed was not filled, the reason is most often that the price level has not been reached. The conditions for being filled differ by order type; in this article you can find why your order is waiting and how to check it.
In limit orders, if the price level you set has not been reached, the order stays open and continues to wait. In conditional orders, if the trigger condition has not occurred, the order is never sent to the market. Market orders are filled at the instant price; if yours was not filled, you may have received a warning caused by your balance or an amount rule.
You can reach your open orders in two different ways:
Note: The list on the Buy/Sell screen shows only the pair currently selected by default; by clearing the Show only this market checkbox you can view your open orders across all markets
In a limit order, the unit price you set keeps the order open until it finds a match in the market. If you placed a buy order, the market price needs to fall to the level you set; if you placed a sell order, it needs to rise.
If your order has been waiting for a long time, your price may be far from the market. You can cancel the order from the open orders list and place a new order at a price closer to the market.
In a conditional order, the condition needs to occur first, and then the order is sent to the market. If the condition has not occurred, the order waits in the list and never goes to the market.
There are rules the app applies while you are placing a conditional order, and you only see them when you get an error:
| What you see on the screen | What it means |
|---|---|
| "The condition for the buy order must be lower than the market price." | The buy condition was entered above the market price |
| "The condition for the buy order must be higher than the highest buy price in the order book." | The buy condition is below the highest buy price in the order book |
| "The condition for the sell order must be higher than the market price." | The sell condition was entered below the market price |
| "The condition for the sell order must be lower than the lowest sell price in the order book." | The sell condition is above the lowest sell price in the order book |
| The condition you set equals the market price | The condition is the same as the market price; you need to enter a different value |
| Adjust the trigger price — "The trigger price must be reasonably close to the current market price." | The trigger price is too far from the market |
Because a market order is filled at the instant price, it does not stay pending. If your order was not created, you may have received a warning:
There are also cases where the order is never created when you submit the order form:
| What you see on the screen | What you should do |
|---|---|
| Check your order details — "One of the fields in your order is missing or invalid." | Check the form fields and submit again |
| Missing information — "One of the required fields for the order is missing." | Fill in the field you left empty |
| "Trading with the selected order type is temporarily unavailable on this market." | Choose a different order type or try again later |
| Adjust the unit price / Adjust the condition | The value you entered is outside the reasonable range |
| "The unit price you entered for the buy order is well above the market price. Please adjust the unit price to avoid potential losses." | Bring the price closer to the market |
| Your transaction cannot be completed | A general error occurred in the market transaction; try again |
Note: Most of these warnings are shown in order to protect you from a possible loss. When you enter a price far from the market, the app warns you before creating the order
An order may not be matched in full in one go. In this case the order stays open and the remaining part continues to wait. In the open orders list the fill percentage of each order is shown; when you cancel a partially filled order, only the remaining open part is canceled.
Yes. There is a bin icon on the row of each order in the open orders list; the moment you tap it, the order is canceled and the blocked amount is reflected in your available balance.
After the cancellation you see the notification "Your open order for {pair} has been canceled." If the cancellation was not completed, the warning "Your {pair} open order could not be canceled." is shown; in that case refresh the list and try again.
For detailed steps you can view the How do I cancel open orders? article.
If you cannot explain why your order was not filled with the headings above, you can start the live support chat through Paribu Support. To allow your request to be resolved quickly, it is recommended to share the pair, the order type, the price you set, and the date of the order.
Limit and conditional orders stay open until you cancel them. The order is filled when its conditions occur.
Reaching the price level is not enough on its own; there also needs to be sufficient volume on the other side at that price. If there are orders placed before yours at the same price, your turn comes after theirs.
After a cancellation the blocked amount returns to your available balance shortly. If it is not visible, refresh the screen. For balance types you can view the Why is my balance not visible? article.
The list on the Transactions screen covers your open orders across all pairs. The list on the Buy/Sell screen, on the other hand, shows only the selected pair by default.
You can manage your orders from the open orders list on the Wallet and Markets screens and from the Transactions screen.
