How to place a limit order?

August 24, 2026

With a limit order you set the price at which you want to buy or sell. Your order is executed automatically when the market reaches that price.

What is a limit order?

With a limit order you set the price at which you want to buy or sell. Your order is executed automatically when the market reaches that price. You can leave an order on your own terms instead of trading at the current price.

When is it used?

  • When you want to buy an asset at a better level than its current price
  • When you want to sell the asset you hold at a higher level than its current price
  • When you want to wait for a specific price at times you cannot follow the market

How do I place a limit order?

On the buy/sell page, choose the Limit order type in the order form, enter the price and the amount you want to trade at, and place your order. The trade is executed once your price is reached and there are enough opposing orders; until then your order waits in the order book.

Before you start

  • Your account verification must be complete
  • Depending on the market you choose, you need enough TRY or USDT balance to buy, or enough crypto asset balance to sell

Steps

  1. Open Paribu.com and choose a view from the Crypto buy/sell menu in the top navigation
  2. Choose the market you want to trade in from the market selector at the top of the page
  3. Set your direction in the buy or the sell form. If the Advanced view shows a single form, use the Buy / Sell tabs at the top of it
  4. Choose Limit as the order type
  5. Enter the price you want to trade at in the Price field; the Use best price button copies the best price from the order book
  6. Fill in the Amount field; for your full balance you can click Use entire available balance
  7. Click Buy {asset} or Sell {asset} to place your order

Note: When you click a price row in the order book, that price is copied into the order form. This is useful for creating orders that match the visible liquidity quickly

Tracking and managing a limit order

Your limit order waits in the order book until it matches, and you can follow its status in the Open orders section of the page. An order can be filled partially — part of your amount matches while the rest keeps waiting in the order book. You can cancel your order at any time; the balance blocked by a canceled order is returned to your available balance.

If you want to add a condition to a limit order

To control more precisely how your limit order is processed, you can use the Advanced limit order type. That type adds a validity condition to the order: it is only added to the order book (Post only), only the immediately filled part is processed (IOC), or it is canceled unless it is filled in full immediately (FOK).

Things to know

  • The minimum trade amount is ₺100 in TRY markets and 1 USDT in USDT markets
  • Limit orders that are added to the order book and match while waiting are charged the maker fee rate, and limit orders that match existing orders instantly are charged the taker rate
  • Even when your price is reached, the order may not be filled in full if the opposing liquidity is not enough
  • Your balance is blocked while your order waits
  • Limit orders are available in both desktop views and remain in the list when the screen is narrow
  • You can follow completed and pending transactions from the transaction history, which opens from the Transactions link on the wallet page

Frequently asked questions

Why was my limit order not filled?

A limit order waits when there are not enough opposing orders at the price you set. Your order is filled once the market price reaches your price and there is enough volume.

How long does a limit order stay pending?

A limit order keeps waiting in the order book until you cancel it or until the price is reached and it matches. There is no automatic time limit.

Can my limit order be filled partially?

Yes. Part of your amount can match against opposing orders while the rest keeps waiting in the order book. This is called partial execution and appears as the Filled value of the order in the Open orders section.

How do I cancel my open limit order?

You can cancel it with the Cancel option on the order row in the Open orders section. To cancel all your limit orders together, use Cancel limit orders only from the Cancel orders menu. For details, see How do I cancel open orders?.
