Because your assets in DeFi products are held in your own wallet, your assets are not lost if you lose your device or your passkey access. On your new device, you verify your identity and start a recovery process. For security reasons, the process takes 48 hours, and at the end of this period you regain access to your wallet.
When is recovery needed?
The recovery process is activated in situations such as the following:
- When you switch to a new device and that device does not have your passkey, and
- When the passkey (Face ID / Touch ID) repeatedly does not work on your current device
How does recovery work?
- The system directs you to the recovery flow.
- You verify with the code sent to the phone number registered on your Paribu account.
- You verify with the code sent to the email registered on your Paribu account.
- You create a new passkey (Face ID / Touch ID) on your new device.
- After 48 hours, your new passkey becomes active and you access your wallet.
Info: You can track your recovery request from the information area on the home screen; the remaining time is shown here.
What should I pay attention to during recovery?
- Once recovery is started, it cannot be canceled and you cannot make onchain transactions for 48 hours. For this reason, only start recovery if it is truly necessary. If you did not start the recovery yourself, you need to contact Paribu Support.
- During this window you can view your assets, but transactions such as buy/sell are disabled.
- At the end of 48 hours, your access opens automatically without any additional action.
Why might recovery not be possible to start?
For your security, if you have changed any of the following in the last 72 hours, recovery cannot be started temporarily:
- Phone number change
- Email change
- Two-factor authentication (2FA) method change
In this case, you need to contact Paribu Support; we will help you.
Important information
- Your assets are not lost during recovery; only access is suspended for 48 hours.
- Recovery is a fixed 48 hours and cannot be sped up (for security).
- Verification codes are always sent to the current phone and email registered on your Paribu account.
- No additional identity verification (KYC) level is required for recovery.
Frequently asked questions
Are my assets safe during recovery?
Yes. Your assets are held in your own wallet and are not lost. Recovery only re-establishes access from your new device.
Why does recovery take 48 hours?
This period is to protect your account against unauthorized access. The period is fixed and cannot be canceled once started.
I started recovery by mistake; can I stop it?
Once a recovery request is started, it cannot be canceled and you cannot make transactions for 48 hours. For this reason, we recommend starting recovery only if it is truly necessary. If you did not start the recovery yourself, you need to contact Paribu Support.
I was not allowed to start recovery; why?
If your phone, email, or two-factor authentication information was changed in the last 72 hours, recovery is temporarily blocked for security purposes. When you contact Paribu Support, we will help you.
