How do I start using DeFi products?

To start using DeFi products, your account verification must first be complete on your Paribu account. You then approve the risk statement and terms of use and create your self-custody DeFi wallet with your passkey. After this setup, you can use the DEX.

How is the DeFi setup completed?

In the Paribu app, go to the Markets tab and tap the DeFi chip in the Crypto tab. The first time you enter the DeFi area, an introduction screen appears; you start the setup by tapping the Create wallet with passkey button. After approving the risk statement and terms of use, you create your wallet and start using the DEX.

Before you start

Your account verification must be complete on your Paribu account
You must have approved your user agreement
At least one of face recognition, fingerprint, or a device password must be set up on your device

Complete the DeFi setup

Go to the Markets tab and tap the DeFi chip in the Crypto tab
Tap the Create wallet with passkey button on the introduction screen
On the risk statement and terms of use screen, scroll to the end of the text — until you reach the end, the approval button stays inactive and prompts you to scroll to the end of the form
Check the approval items and tap the confirmation button to approve the risk statement and terms of use
On the Create Your Wallet screen, tap Create with Passkey and confirm your identity on the verification screen your device opens
A short waiting screen appears while your wallet is created; then tap OK on the Welcome to DeFi! screen

Note: Once you approve the risk statement and terms of use, they are not requested again. Your approval is only requested again if the version of the text is updated

During the setup you also see an information screen titled Protected by secure recovery. This screen explains that you can recover your wallet through identity verification if you lose access; you continue with the Complete wallet creation button.

What happens after the setup?

Once your wallet is ready, you can buy and sell the tokens in the DeFi list. When you buy on the DEX, the USDT in your Paribu balance is used; you do not need to create a separate balance for DeFi.

After you create your wallet, signing in with your passkey is enough when you return from the same device. If you sign in from another device, the New device login detected screen appears and you are asked to log in with your passkey.

Important information

The DeFi setup cannot be started before account verification is complete
No DeFi transaction can be made without creating a self-custody wallet
No wallet is created without approving the risk statement
In DeFi products, the control and responsibility of your assets belong to you
Transactions made on the blockchain cannot be reversed

Frequently asked questions

What happens if my account verification is not complete?

You cannot start the DeFi setup. You are first directed to the account verification flow; once verification is complete on Paribu, you can continue with the setup.

Why does the approval button look inactive?

You need to scroll to the end of the risk statement and terms of use text. Until you reach the end, the button prompts you to scroll to the end of the form and cannot be tapped. Once you reach the end and check the approval items, the button becomes active.

The agreement text is not loading, what should I do?

When the text cannot be loaded, the approval step does not open and a Try again button appears on the screen. Please check your internet connection and try again.

I left the setup halfway, do I start over?

If your approval was saved, you can continue from where you left off. If you did not complete the wallet creation step, you continue from the same point when you enter the DeFi area.

I received a "wallet could not be created" message, what should I do?

If you canceled your device's verification screen, you stay on the screen and can continue by tapping the button again. If it was not completed for another reason, a message stating that the wallet could not be created appears; you can restart the process.
